仕事内容

• This position is responsible for writing and completing commentaries covering review periods (monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, and annual) and ad-hoc investment reports for clients who entrust their funds to investment strategies offered by us on behalf of the portfolio manager responsible for each investment strategy. • The main task of the JW is to transcreate English commentaries written by the primary writer in charge of each investment strategy (located overseas), while editing them for appropriate content. • The JW is required to be flexible in their editing, not to translate directly, but to adapt to the preferences, knowledge-level, and interests of the Japanese clients and to the format of the report. • If the quality or quantity of the English commentary is not sufficient, JW must supplement the content through their own research. • The candidate may be required to write an original commentary (without the aid of an English report). For this purpose, they are granted access to our research database, however, they are required to understand the content of the source English reports written for the investment team and summarize them in client-friendly language. • The JW may also produce Thought Leadership commentaries (also known as Insights or White Papers), should they wish to do so. However, the contents of the Thought Leadership commentary must be related to our investments and contribute to the Japanese business. • Periodical investment report commentaries are the JW’s first priority and Thought Leadership commentaries are to be written in between reporting cycles.

必要経験

Required:  Financial markets experience gained by work in the financial industry or journalism  Bachelor's degree or the equivalent combination of education and relevant experience AND  5+ years of total relevant work experience Preferred:  Experienced writer / editor in Japanese  Native / bilingual Japanese speaker  Experience in transcreation/translation within the financial industry  Experience in writing/editing for business, economics or institutional financial services  Extensive knowledge of macroeconomics, corporate finance, financial markets, and investment theories related to equity and fixed income, and the asset management industry is desirable  While a high level of Japanese writing skills is required, expert level of English oral communication proficiency is not a prerequisite. It is sufficient to be able to communicate within the company and not required to provide professional services to clients in English.  While it would be preferable if you have experience in this area, there are few companies in the industry where investment writers are established as a position, especially in Japan, so candidates seeking to move from other positions/areas of expertise, such as the following, are welcomed. - Those who belong to departments like the Product Management or Client Portfolio Management, which are responsible for in-person client reporting and product pitches, and liaison with overseas investment teams, but wish to specialize in writing rather than client-facing tasks. - Those who are currently in sales or marketing (RFPs, sales material creation, etc.) at investment management firms, but would like to shift their focus to more investment-oriented work. - Those who work in client reporting at investment management firms and are interested in writing investment-related commentaries and would like to consider pursuing this as a career path. - Those who are portfolio managers at Japanese investment management firms, have experience in writing client reporting commentary, are interested in working for a foreign firm but are considering to transfer to the role of client servicing for Japanese clients due to lack of confidence in English communication skills. - Those who are in the sell-side research departments in Japanese firms and are interested in working for a foreign firm or on the buy-side. - Those who are in financial journalism industry such as Reuters, Bloomberg, Nikkei, etc. and are interested in changing careers in the asset management industry.  Strong attention to detail and accuracy  Deadline-driven, multi-tasking skills  Team player as collaboration is an intrinsic part of the our culture.
